Finding Your Purpose: The Hidden Truths
Have you ever found yourself wondering, Why am I here? or What am I supposed to be doing with my life? If so, you’re not alone. Studies reveal that nearly 70% of people feel unfulfilled in their lives, searching for something deeper—a sense of purpose. It’s a staggering truth that highlights just how many people are simply going through the motions without truly living.
But finding your purpose isn’t just a nice idea. It’s essential for personal fulfillment and happiness. Purpose gives direction to our lives and shapes how we approach our relationships, careers, and even our faith. As someone who has walked this journey, I want to share some hidden truths about discovering your purpose and how it transformed my life.
Why Finding Purpose Matters
For me, discovering purpose began with a realization: I wasn’t truly living. Sure, I had goals and responsibilities, but deep down, I knew there was something more. 2024 was a year full of transformation and growth for myself. After divorce, and job loss, I knew God was calling me to do something more with my life. That’s when I started getting more intentional about my faith journey. I invested my time in small groups at my local church, women groups in my community and in communities like the Kingdom Alliance and began surrounding myself with people who were also seeking growth. It wasn’t just about personal development—it was about digging deeper into what God was calling me to do.
The Bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). But once we start our faith journey, it doesn’t end there. It’s like planting a seed; it needs to be nurtured and watered. For me, nurturing that seed meant committing to daily Bible reading, prayer, and journaling. I needed to be intentional with what God was telling me and act on those insights.
Methods for Discovering Your Purpose
If you’re wondering how you can find your purpose, here are some practical methods that have helped me and many others:
1. Self-Reflection
Take time to reflect on what truly brings you joy and what burdens your heart. Often, your purpose lies at the intersection of your passions and the problems you feel called to solve.
2. Seek God’s Guidance
Prayer is powerful. Ask God to reveal your purpose. Be patient and attentive. Keep a journal to document moments when you feel God speaking to you through scripture, prayer, or life experiences.
3. Surround Yourself with a Faith-Based Community
Growth happens in community. Being part of the Kingdom Alliance and leading faith-based women’s groups has been life-changing for me. When you’re surrounded by like-minded people who encourage and challenge you, you’ll find clarity and strength to pursue your purpose.

A Key Moment in My Journey
One of the most transformative moments in my life came during a difficult season: my divorce. It was a time when I felt broken, unworthy, and uncertain about what was next. I wasn't sure which way to go, but instead of turning away from God, as I did in the past, I chose to lean in. I started digging deeper into the Bible, seeking comfort, wisdom, and clarity.
Divorce is often seen as a failure, and I carried the weight of many past sins, including the sin of divorce. But God’s grace is greater than our failures. Through His grace, I began to rebuild my life. That season of brokenness became a turning point. I discovered that my purpose wasn’t found in perfection but in progress—in being willing to keep moving forward, trusting God every step of the way.
The Hidden Truth About Purpose
Here’s the hidden truth about finding your purpose: It’s not always obvious, and it doesn’t come all at once. Purpose is revealed through a process of self-discovery, faith, and openness to change. You don’t have to have everything figured out right now. All you need to do is take the next step. Say YES to Jesus, open your bible, and find a community of people who will invest their time into growing with you.
Remember, God’s plan for your life is bigger than you can imagine. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Trust that He will guide you as you seek Him.
