Monday Mission: Seeking God Through Small Changes This Week

It’s Monday, and with it comes a fresh opportunity to start the week with intention. Often, Mondays bring a mix of excitement for a new beginning and the weight of the tasks ahead. But what if we viewed Monday not just as a day to tackle to-do lists, but as a chance to realign our hearts and minds with God’s purpose for us? This week, I challenge you to take on Monday’s Mission: make three small changes in the way you will handle this week, and seek God in each of them.

Small changes, when rooted in faith, can create profound shifts in our hearts and habits. As we start the week, let’s explore how making three simple changes—small acts of intention—can draw us closer to God and help us navigate the days ahead with greater peace, purpose, and presence.

Need some guidance on some small changes you can make this week?

1. Start Each Day with Prayer

The first change I encourage you to make this week is to start each day with prayer. We all have busy mornings, and it’s easy to jump straight into the rush of the day. But taking just a few minutes to pray before your feet hit the floor can change everything. It’s a moment to acknowledge God’s presence and invite Him into your day.

Here’s a simple prayer you can say each morning:
"God, thank You for this new day. Please guide me, give me strength, and help me be mindful of Your presence in everything I do today. Amen."

This small change will set the tone for the day, reminding you that God is with you through every task and challenge. As you move through the day, you’ll find moments of peace, knowing you’ve already started it with Him.

2. Shift Your Perspective in Moments of Stress

The second change is to shift your perspective when things get stressful. Life is full of unexpected challenges—meetings that run late, projects that pile up, or frustrations that come out of nowhere. Rather than getting caught up in the stress, choose to respond with faith.

When you feel the tension rising, take a deep breath and remind yourself: "God is in control." In those moments, pray for patience, for peace, and for perspective. Instead of allowing frustration to take over, ask God to help you see the situation through His eyes.

Psalm 34:4 says, "I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears." This week, when stress comes knocking, invite God into the moment. He will calm your spirit and help you navigate the day with grace and confidence.

3. Practice Gratitude in Every Situation

The third small change you can make this week is to practice gratitude—no matter what your circumstances are. It’s easy to be thankful when everything is going well, but true transformation happens when we thank God, even in difficult times.

Take a moment each day—whether it’s before lunch or before bed—to reflect on at least three things you’re grateful for. It could be as simple as a warm cup of coffee or as profound as the strength God has given you to face challenges.

Philippians 4:6, "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." Practicing gratitude, even when it feels tough, opens our hearts to God’s goodness and reminds us that He is working in all areas of our lives, even when we can’t see it.
