The Importance of Taking a Recharge Day

The Importance of Taking a Recharge Day

Are you feeling overwhelmed, tired, stressed, or uncertain about your next steps? As a busy mom of three, juggling new business plans and goals, I completely understand. Sometimes, we all need a re-charge day. Yesterday was my day, and it made all the difference.

After a week filled with activities and a fun weekend visiting family, I found myself deep in thought as we drove home. I was mentally mapping out my day, planning my week, and checking off tasks on my to-do list. I told myself, “I got this!” But as Sunday afternoon rolled in, I realized I needed to listen to my body.

The weather was beautiful, we had wrapped up our church activities and basketball games, and the rest of the day was wide open. I had a bit of work to finish, dinner to cook, and the usual evening routine of getting the kids ready for the week. But as I started unpacking and preparing for Monday, fatigue hit me hard. I knew I could push through, but I also recognized that the day was free, and a short break might be just what I needed to recharge.

So, I took a step back. I grabbed markers and coloring sheets for my little ones, sat on the couch next to my teenager, and rested my head against hers while she finished her homework. As I sat there, listening to their quiet giggles and the gentle rustle of paper, my eyes slowly closed.

After about 15 minutes, I woke up but kept my eyes shut, soaking in the peaceful sounds of my little ones enjoying their activities. My teenager had even fallen asleep, a testament to how much we all needed that moment of stillness. When I finally got up, I felt refreshed and grateful for that little pause.

Energized, I decided to tackle some work. I hadn’t posted anything that day and needed to come up with new content. But as I started to think about it, my little ones expressed a desire to do more than color. So, I set aside the computer, called them to put on their shoes, and we headed outside for some kite and frisbee time.

As dinner time approached, we came back inside, enjoyed a meal together, and settled in for a family movie on the couch. Once the little ones were tucked in for the night, I checked my emails and responded, but I decided to shut down my work after that.

As an entrepreneur, I know that achieving success and providing for my family often requires hard work and long hours. However, I also believe that God wants us all to have a day of rest, even during our busiest seasons.

So, I encourage you to take a day out of your week where you can recharge, rest, and relax. Your body and mind will appreciate it, and you'll approach the days ahead with a renewed mindset. Remember, it's okay to pause and take care of yourself. You deserve it!
